Whether Washington drafts a quarterback is anybody’s guess at this point Montez Sweat Jersey , but the team is doing its due diligence on all the top-rated prospects.West Virginia’s Will Grier will visit Redskins Park in the coming days, NBC Sports Washington reports.Washington does not have a long-term solution at quarterback with Alex Smith‘s future in doubt and Case Keenum and Colt McCoy signed only through 2019. Washington could attempt to trade for Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen or it could draft one.The team, though, is expected to find a young quarterback to groom behind Keenum and McCoy.Missouri quarterback Drew Lock and Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham visited the team’s facility last week, and Duke’s Daniel Jones is expected this week.Washington also has scouted Dwayne Haskins, sending a contingent of coaches and executives to Ohio State’s Pro Day last month. Team president Bruce Allen and coach Jay Gruden were among those who made the trip to Columbus.Kansas State offensive lineman Dalton Risner also is expected to be among the team’s pre-draft visitors, NBC Sports Washington adds. ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Even after Dak Prescott rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown last week, the Washington Redskins aren’t zeroing in on stopping the Dallas Cowboys quarterback.“We don’t really care about him running,” linebacker Zach Brown said.“Him running is not really our concern.”Their concern is Ezekiel Elliott, the Cowboys’ top running back who’s coming off 106 yards and a score against Jacksonville. After seeing Cam Newton with Carolina, the Redskins are prepared for Prescott, but after ranking last in the league in run defense last season — including allowing 351 yards in two games against Dallas — the Redskins know it all starts with containing Elliott.“Definitely with their O-line, their running game is something that definitely jumps off on film,” linebacker Mason Foster said. “You don’t want to start thinking about Cam Newton or thinking about Dak Prescott so much that you’re letting Zeke and (Panthers running back Christian) McCaffrey run free because those are the guys who really can hurt you.”Amid plenty of inconsistency , Washington has not allowed an opponent to rush for more than 104 yards in a game so far this year. Newton was the Panthers’ leading rusher when they had just 81 yards on the ground.“One of our things is trying to make a team one-dimensional because we know if you put it in the air Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey , you eventually might make a mistake,” Brown said. “The run is just something we’ve got to make sure we stop. If a team can run the ball on you, they can kind of control the game. So we’ve got to make sure they’re not running that ball on us.”The big difference for the Redskins this season is the addition of first-round pick Daron Payne and the return of a healthy Jonathan Allen on the defensive line. The Alabama products plus young defensive linemen Matt Ioannidis and Tim Settle finally give Washington the muscle up front to handle prolific running attacks.“Having Jon Allen back, Ioannidis fully healthy, Ryan (Kerrigan) — all these guys are physical up front, closing gaps,” Foster said. “Guys are going to bust runs or guys are going to make plays, but it’s about limiting those plays and making them earn it.”The Cowboys’ diverse run schemes present what Redskins coach Jay Gruden called a big challenge for Payne, Allen and the young defensive linemen. But those guys think they’re plenty prepared to handle the dual-threat ground game of Elliott and Prescott.“Just hit them in the mouth, get the O-line going backwards, win the line of scrimmage,” Settle said Wednesday. “They got to block us. We don’t have to worry about them. They got to stop us from accomplishing what we want to accomplish. I feel like the more focused we are, the more dominant we play.”No one is calling the Redskins’ defense dominant quite yet, but the organization zeroed in on Payne with the concept of him being a difference-maker against the run and the pass. Elliott running all over them contributed to the decision to take Payne 13th overall.“When you have a weakness, you’ve got to address it,” Gruden said. “Daron Payne was https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-dwayne-haskins-jersey , we thought, the best run-stopper — him and Vita Vea — in the draft and we were lucky to get him. Obviously we paid it huge consideration for adding a player of that caliber.”Payne has been every bit of what coaches expected, but he can’t stop Elliott by himself. Safety D.J. Swearinger said defenders are thinking, “We’ve got to find ways to stop 21” and let the rest of Dallas’ offense beat them. That’s what Gruden wants to hear, putting the emphasis on gang-tackling a running back who doesn’t go down easily.“said than done,” Gruden said. “Great backs can make the unblocked player miss or run through them for another 5 or 6 yards, and that’s what he’s done in his career. … There’s always going to be a free guy coming, and that guy has got to make his presence felt and make that tackle or at least hold him up for when other guys can get off blocks and make the tackle.”NOTES: WR Jamison Crowder (ankle), RB Adrian Peterson (shoulder/ankle/knee), WR Paul Richardson (shoulder/knee), LG Shawn Lauvao (calf), RG Brandon Scherff (knee), CB Danny Johnson (broken right forearm) and S Troy Apke (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. Gruden said Crowder is the most iffy to play against Dallas. … The Redskins plan to hold a moment of silence for longtime reporter Rich Tandler, who died unexpectedly Tuesday at age 63. A team spokesman says a plaque will be placed at Tandler’s seat in the press box at FedEx Field, which will remain empty.
Antonio Brown‘s antics in Pittsburgh have undoubtedly scared away some teams that would otherwise be willing to trade for him. But there’s one other coach who we know thinks of Brown as the kind of guy he’d like to have on his practice field. That coach is Jon Gruden Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , who said last year before his Raiders played the Steelers that he had previously visited Pittsburgh when preparing to call a Steelers game for ESPN and thought very highly of Brown.“The greatest thing about this man is, I’ve told all our receivers: you’ll see what unlocks the greatness in him. He’s the hardest working man, I think, in football Jerome Bettis Jersey ,” Gruden said. “Hardest working player I’ve ever seen practice, and I’ve seen Jerry Rice, I’ve seen a lot of good ones. But I put Antonio Brown at the top. And if there’s any young wideouts out there, I’d go watch him practice and you’ll see for yourself why he’s such a good player.”Gruden’s perception is a far cry from the image of Brown we’ve heard coming out of Pittsburgh this offseason. Gruden thinks Brown is exactly the kind of guy he’d want on his team — perhaps a guy he’ll trade for soon. More than once this week Mike Tomlin was asked if he felt any responsibility for not making things work with Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown.Steelers cornerback Joe Haden came to his coach’s defense Thursday, vouching for Tomlin’s leadership.“He has complete control of the team James Conner Jersey ,” Haden told Stacey Dales of NFL Network. “You have two totally different situations with Le’Veon and with Antonio. It is what is. It’s a business. You can’t blame coach T for that.“He’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever played for. You can only ask for honesty. He keeps it real with you. He lets you know exactly where you stand. He lets you know exactly how he feels about you, if you’re productive, if you’re not. He treats everyone fairly, but I’m going to say not everybody gets treated the same.” Haden spent seven seasons in Cleveland, playing for five head coaches. When the Steelers reconvene for their offseason program https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , the locker room won’t be the same as when Haden arrived in 2017.Bell left for more money from the Jets after sitting out last season in a contract dispute, refusing to sign the franchise tag. The Steelers traded Brown to Oakland after drama to end last season.“With Antonio, that was just a whole different situation [than Bell],” Haden said. “This is a crazy business, and it’s definitely relationships and people feel certain types of ways. So that went down the way it did.“I wanted AB to be on our team as much as possible. I did everything I possibly could Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , as far as talking to him and seeing what I could do. But it didn’t quite work out that way.”
ALAMEDA Bo Jackson Jersey White , Calif. (AP) — Rookie general manager Mike Mayock and coach Jon Gruden had meticulously put together a plan to rebuild the Oakland Raiders with three first-round draft picks and a couple of smart free agent signings when they suddenly got sent in a different direction last week. The Pittsburgh Steelers were willing to trade the NFL’s most prolific wide receiver for two mid-round draft picks, assuming the Raiders could come to terms on a new contract for Antonio Brown.“When we discovered we might have a chance for his services, it changed everything,” Mayock said Wednesday after the Raiders officially added Brown as their first big move of the new league year. The Raiders dealt third- and fifth-round picks in the upcoming draft to the Steelers and gave Brown a new three-year contract worth $50.125 million, a relatively small price to pay for a player who has averaged more than 100 catches and 1,500 yards receiving per season over the last six years. The trade ended a very messy and very public divorce between Brown and the team that helped mold him from a sixth-round pick into arguably the greatest wide receiver of his generation.“Pittsburgh will always be my family,” Brown said. “Those guys gave me a chance when I was a 21-year-old kid. People listen to the things that are being said and written. At the end of the day, it’s all about how you make people feel. I think I made people feel really great and really inspired the way they watched me go to work, the way they watched me play. … I know Steeler Nation is having a bad day today, but it’s always love.”Mayock and Gruden have admired Brown from afar during their time as broadcasters, with both calling him the hardest-working practice player they have ever seen. The 30-year-old Brown was an All-Pro four straight years from 2014-17 and is the first player ever with at least 100 catches and 1,200 yards receiving in six straight seasons. His 686 catches and 9,145 yards since 2013 are the most ever for any player in a six-year span.“He’s done everything in his power to be the best he can possibly be on and off the field https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey ,” Gruden said. “His body of work is not only impressive, but fun to watch. He’s electrifying after the catch, he’s a great competitor, he wins the 50-50 ball, he’s outstanding in short areas. You have a great imagination as a football coach when you coach a man like this. He can play split end, he can play flanker, he can play in the slot. He can return punts and sell popcorn at halftime. We’re excited about this guy.”Brown is one of several additions the Raiders have made to start the new league year. They agreed to a four-year, $66 million deal with tackle Trent Brown to bolster the line and a four-year, $42 million contract with safety Lamarcus Joyner during the negotiating period.Brown, a former seventh-round pick, got the richest deal ever for an offensive lineman after helping New England win the Super Bowl after being traded from San Francisco.“What took my game to the next level was just going to an organization who believed in me,” Brown said. “A locker room full of guys who just believed in each other, pushed each other. We worked hard as a team every day. No egos. Just confidence shot through the roof. I’ve kind of felt disrespected about the trade and I wanted to prove everybody wrong.”They also added another receiver Wednesday Derek Carr Jersey White , signing former Chargers deep threat Tyrell Williams to a four-year deal worth a reported $44 million.Williams had 41 catches for 643 yards and five touchdowns last season. He has averaged 16.3 yards per catch for his career, the fifth-highest mark among players with at least 100 catches since he entered as an undrafted free agent out of Western Oregon in 2015.The additions of Antonio Brown and Williams on the outside and a top pass blocker in Trent Brown should help quarterback Derek Carr regain the form he had when he was one of the better quarterbacks in the league in 2016 before regressing the past two years.Carr and Brown have already started working out together at a nearby park and are excited to see what they can do on the field.“It’s refreshing,” said Brown, who clashed with Ben Roethlisberger during the end of his time in Pittsburgh. “I think he’s hungry for success, hungry to turn the organization around, hungry to get on the winning side of things. I’m just hungry for the same things.”The Raiders also completed a trade that sent guard Kelechi Osemele and a sixth-round pick to the Jets for a fifth-round pick. Here we go..."It’s finally draft day and we have rumors and reports coming from every direction right now. One of these reports/rumors could greatly impact what the Broncos do in the first-round of the 2019 NFL Draft.According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero Bradley Chubb Broncos Jersey , he is hearing that the Atlanta Falcons could jump ahead of the Broncos at 10th overall and take Michigan linebacker, Devin Bush.Bush to the Broncos is apparently one of those “worst kept secrets” which really has become a staple of the General Managing tenure of John Elway. It’s possible the Broncos could move up and get Bush, but nothing that has come out has really hinted at them wanting to trade up. What seems more possible is them either going Bush at 10, and if he’s not there, deciding between quarterback Drew Lock, tight end T.J. Hockenson, or hoping that phone rings for a trade back offer. The Falcons currently have the 14th selection so them moving up 6 to 8 spots won’t be overly difficult, especially with teams like the Jaguars, Lions, and Bills keen on trading back. This will be something to monitor as we tread closer to the Arizona Cardinals being on the clock. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Safety Darian Stewart is joining a crowded field of free agent safeties following his release Wednesday from the Denver Broncos, where he won a Super Bowl ring.A starter in Denver since 2015 Von Miller Jersey White , Stewart was a part of the famed “No Fly Zone” secondary that also featured safety T.J. Ward and cornerbacks Chris Harris Jr. and Aqib Talib. With Stewart’s departure, Harris is the only remaining member of that secondary that helped the Broncos win Super Bowl 50 three years ago.Stewart, who turns 31 in August, was due nearly $5 million in both 2019 and 2020.“Broncos country thank you all for the love you showed me and my family these past 4 years,” Stewart wrote on Instagram. “But it’s time for me to move on and I’m looking forward to the next chapter.”The nine-year pro said he felt he still had a lot of football left in him, but he’ll have some stiff competition on the open market that features safeties Earl Thomas, Landon Collins, Lamarcus Joyner, Tyrann Mathieu and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, among others.Undrafted out of South Carolina in 2010, followed by one season in Baltimore, where he caught the eye of Gary Kubiak Royce Freeman Jersey , who was the Ravens’ offensive coordinator in 2014. When Kubiak replaced John Fox as head coach in Denver, he encouraged general manager John Elway to sign Stewart.Stewart missed just three games in his four seasons in Denver, where he collected 250 total tackles, intercepted nine passes and broke up two dozen others, recovered four fumbles and registered one sack.In the 2015 playoffs, he had 11 tackles, a sack, an interception, three pass breakups and a forced fumble and he was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2016.Elway called him Wednesday to inform him of his release.
If the Dallas Cowboys are for real Womens Bryce Love Jersey , they will win their sixth straight game and clinch the NFC East at Indianapolis on Sunday. If the Colts are for real, they will knock off the Cowboys and stamp themselves as true contenders for the AFC playoffs. With three games remaining, Dallas (8-5) is in control of its division, thanks to a staunch defense and a revived air game with the addition of Amari Cooper. Has any veteran been more worth a first-round draft pick in a midseason trade?“I didn’t know we were going to get all that, honestly,'” says NFL rushing leader Ezekiel Elliott about Cooper, acquired from Oakland. “But when I finally saw him in person, when I saw him catch the ball, I saw him run around and run after the catch, that’s when I really realized he’s truly special.”A Cowboys win does the trick in the NFC East, as would losses by Philadelphia and Washington. Dallas has almost no chance at a first-round playoff bye, though. So what? The Cowboys were 3-5 and sinking and now look where they are.Talking about sinking, Indianapolis was 1-5 two months ago. Then the Colts (7-6) won five straight before that string ended with an awful performance at Jacksonville. So they went to AFC South leader Houston, winner of nine in a row, and won.In his comeback from a 2017 season lost to a shoulder injury, Andrew Luck has been sensational, working behind an offensive line that has gone from sieve to sturdy. Luck has been sacked 16 times, second fewest in the league.Indy is in a four-way tie for the second AFC wild-card slot with Baltimore, Tennessee and Miami.“Most people call this the dash for cash,” Colts tight end Eric Ebron says. “So you just try to win.”Two road teams won Saturday, with Cleveland edging Denver 17-16, and Houston beating the New York Jets 29-22, and.Baker Mayfield’s 2-yard TD toss to Antonio Calloway with just under 12minutes left provided the winning margin for the Browns (6-7-1). They snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Broncos (6-8).Houston’s Deshaun Watson threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins with 2:15 left. The Texans are 10-4, and the Jets 4-10.The weekend began Thursday night with the Los Angeles Chargers‘ 29-28 comeback victory at Kansas City.Philip Rivers led the Chargers to a pair of touchdowns in the final minutes, then hit Mike Williams for the go-ahead 2-point conversion with 4 seconds remaining. The Chargers (11-3) trailed 28-14 before Justin Jackson scored with 3:49 to go.Not only did the Chargers clinch a playoff berth, they forged a first-place tie with the Chiefs (11-3) in the AFC West while ending a nine-game losing streak to their longtime division rivals.New England (9-4) at Pittsburgh (7-5-1)Tampa Bay (5-8) at Baltimore (7-6)The AFC North has become a jumble with Pittsburgh’s slump (three successive defeats) and Baltimore’s resurgence. These matchups don’t bode well for the Steelers, especially if Ben Roethlisberger’s rib and James Conner’s ankle are factors. The Patriots have won the past five meetings. Of course https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , the 2017 version is unforgettable: Roethlisberger threw an interception in the end zone with 5 seconds remaining after tight end Jesse James‘ apparent go-ahead touchdown with 29 seconds left was overturned on review. Officials ruled the catch did not “survive the ground;” James jostled it after stretching across the goal line.So the league amended the rule in the offseason to allow some movement by the ball if a receiver maintains possession.New England can clinch its 10th straight AFC East title with a win or tie and a Miami loss or tie.Baltimore, meanwhile, will sit the now-healthy Joe Flacco behind first-round pick Lamar Jackson, who has won three of his four starts with Flacco (hip) sidelined. The Ravens‘ ground game has been sensational with the rookie behind center:Jackson has 336 yards rushing over the past four games, the most by any NFL quarterback in his first four starts during the Super Bowl era. Baltimore also is allowing an NFL-low 18.5 points per game.Philadelphia (6-7) at Los Angeles Rams (11-2)New Orleans (11-2) at Carolina (6-7), MondayTop seed in the NFC is what it’s all about for the Saints and Rams, who lost to New Orleans this season. The Rams and Saints each clinch a first-round bye with a win and a Chicago loss or tie, or a tie and a Chicago loss.New Orleans has struggled offensively the past two weeks, but this is a matchup Drew Brees enjoys. The Saints beat the Panthers three times last season, including the playoffs. Brees has completed 76.7 percent of his passes for 2,714 yards with 21 touchdowns and four interceptions in the past 10 NFC South games and has 46 TDs and 20 INTs vs. the Panthers, who have lost their past five overall. But Carolina is 5-1 at home. With the Rams coming off the lowest-scoring performance under Sean McVay, a 15-6 loss to the Bears, they try to avoid falling in consecutive games with McVay in charge. Indeed, he has won at least two straight after all seven of his career defeats.Eagles QB Carson Wentz is battling a back injury. He tore up his knee at LA last year and missed his team’s run to the championship.Tennessee (7-6) at New York Giants (5-8)The other weekend game at MetLife Stadium; notice the neutral end zones.New York once was 1-7, yet has a very long shot at making the playoffs. A retooled offensive line has provided time for Eli Manning to show he isn’t over the hill, and for rookie running back Saquon Barkley to go wild.Tennessee has had at least 400 yards in each of the past two games, and hasn’t managed three straight since Oct. 1-16, 2000. It has allowed the fewest touchdowns in the league this season, 27.Green Bay (5-7-1) at Chicago (9-4)Miami (7-6) at Minnesota (6-6-1)Chicago’s last-to-first climb in the NFC North could be finalized against its biggest rival. A win over Green Bay, which leads the NFL’s longest series 97-94-6, gets it done. So does a Minnesota loss or tie.The Bears lead the NFL in turnover differential (plus 13) and interceptions (25).Green Bay, under interim coach Joe Philbin, must win out for any chance to play in January. The Packers have won eight in a row at Soldier Field and nine of the past 10 meetings overall. But with a win, Chicago would finish 7-1 at home for the first time since 2005.Miami’s stunning “Drake Escape” victory against New England kept it viable in the AFC playoff chase. The Dolphins are second in the NFL with 19 interceptions and tied for third with 25 takeaways.Minnesota was overwhelmed last Monday night at Seattle, and fired offensive coordinator John DeFilippo. In their past three losses, all on the road Montez Sweat Jersey , the Vikings have averaged just 274 yards and 12 points per game. But they’re at home and the Dolphins are 0-5 on the road since beating the Jets in Week 2.Seattle (8-5) at San Francisco (3-10)Surging Seattle has won four straight and its defeats are to opponents who are a combined 36-16, with two of losses to the 11-2 Rams. The Seahawks have the league’s top rushing team and have become as stingy as anybody on defense despite being in a rebuild.A win gets them into the postseason, and they have won 10 straight in this NFC West rivalry, starting with the conference title game in January 2014. Linebacker Bobby Wagner , making a hefty statement for NFL Defensive Player of the Year, seeks his eighth straight game with at least eight tackles. Wagner had 12 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, two passes defensed and a 98-yard interception return for a TD in the Week 13 win over San Francisco.Detroit (5-8) at Buffalo (4-9)Don’t look for much scoring here. With 3,187 yards passing, Detroit QB Matthew Stafford is in jeopardy of ending his seven-season streak of topping 4,000 yards. His counterpart, first-round pick Josh Allen, has a combined 335 yards rushing in the past three games. He’s the second NFL QB to top 90 yards rushing in three consecutive games, joining Green Bay’s Tobin Rote in 1951.Arizona (3-10) at Atlanta (4-9)Atlanta might do some scoring here, while Arizona ranks at the bottom in most offensive categories. Its pitiful 178 points are 23 lower than the next-worst team, Buffalo. The Cardinals started five rookies on offense last week. After being held without a TD catch in the first seven games, Atlanta WR Julio Jones has five in the past six games. Jones leads the NFL with 1,429 yards receiving and has topped 100 yards in nine games.Oakland (3-10) at Cincinnati (5-8)Banged-up Cincinnati has been in freefall, dropping five in a row and seven of eight. This is its final home game. The Bengals have averaged 51,673, the second-smallest attendance since Paul Brown Stadium opened in 2000. They’re 3-4 at home. The Raiders fired GM Reggie McKenzie on Monday, one day after a stunning upset of Pittsburgh.Washington (6-7) at Jacksonville (4-9)What does a team do when its top two QBs have broken legs and the third guy has a broken career? They didn’t have to wait long. The first three plays were runs by Jacobs in which he ran for 6 yards, 8 yards, and 6 yards. That’s some nice chunks of yards against a first team defense. It didn’t appear as if he did anything spectacular, but that doesn’t mean he was just running through open space out there. He was running between the tackles and the fact that he hit the hole full speed and didn’t lose stride suggests he has one of the most important qualities a running back can have — vision.“He’s a good back, there’s no doubt,” said Jon Gruden. “He can run the ball, he’s got good vision, he can break arm tackles, he’s got some acceleration and burst https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , no doubt. I’ve played with some fun one – MJD (Maurice Jones-Drew, DMac (Darren McFadden), Latavius [Murray], Marshawn [Lynch], Doug [Martin] – and that’s just the guys that have carried a lot of footballs. I’ve played with some good backs and watching his vision was really impressive. “I’ve got the best seat in the house. I’m sitting back there playing Madden, telling him to cut back and trying to run for him and he’s right up there with those guys and for him to do that, especially in his first game.“I think the thing that rubbed off on me the most about Josh was his want-to. It wasn’t like ‘Man, this is my first game’ nothing like that. He was just trying to bully people, he was out there trying to run hard, he didn’t care that he was a rookie Derek Carr Jersey White , he’s trying to prove that he’s the best back in the NFL. That’s his mindset and really, really impressed.”In total, Jacobs carried the ball four times for 21 yards (5.1 yards per carry). It’s a small sample size, which is kind of the story of his college career. He can be electric in bursts because he’s never been a workhorse back in is always fresh. What the Raiders see from him as far as his skillset is not all that surprising. He was the only back taken in the first round of this year’s draft for a reason. If he is to live up to the comparisons Carr is making, he will have to show he can carry the load and not wear down over a full game and a full season. But better to have the talent first. Colin Cowherd is not impressed with Jon Gruden’s coaching performance so far this season Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , and he thinks the Oakland Raiders may be trapped for the foreseeable future, given Gruden’s 10-year $100 million contract.“I don’t know if it’s going to work, but they don’t have any options,”聽Cowherd said on Monday. “It has to work.”The Raiders got a lot of negative attention when they traded their best player, Khalil Mack, to the Chicago Bears, and at 1-5, things have not been looking up for Oakland .Nick Wright thinks the Raiders have, “One of the worst five offenses in football, one of the worst five defenses in football, and the special teams ain’t great.”Wright sees that as the recipe for their disaster, in addition to what trading Mack may have done to the spirit of the team.Cowherd discusses the Gruden situation with Tony Gonzalez and聽they agree the Raiders are underachieving based on their talent level, but Gonzalez argues that Gruden’s plan is going to require patience.“They’re just making the batter, let alone putting it in the oven Bo Jackson Jersey ,” Gonzalez said. “I think he’s really building toward the future and [Gruden is] going to hit Vegas running, and he’s going to do it his way.”The Raiders play at home against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at 1:05p. Vasquez-USA TODAY SportsThere has been a ton of debate going around about whether or not Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins will be the 2nd QB selected in this draft, or if he is about to experience a fall to the back half of the 1st round or even further. The rumors have been full swing on Haskins with him going anywhere from the Giants at 6 to the Raiders at 24, the question I pose to you is where would you consider it acceptable to draft a QB who likely wouldn’t see the field in the first season? Is there any point where you would be ok with the Raiders going after Haskins in this draft? The huge needs Oakland has all over the field makes drafting a QB a tough pill to swallow for many to see them spend a high pick when they already have Derek Carr. There is no doubt that they need many playmakers yet on both sides of the field, QB is not tops on the list of things the Raiders are in desperate need for. However, there is always a shopper when it comes to quarterbacks in the NFL and getting a good one is a premium that can pay dividends in many ways. Dwayne Haskins would be one hell of a back up plan to Derek Carr if he does struggle in 2019, and he could easily demand a premium in trade if Carr regains his franchise QB status. The one fact that we all agree on is that the NFL is a cold business, and if the team thinks they can improve they will do it no matter who they already have in place. If Jon Gruden is not completely sold on the future of the franchise under Carr then you better believe that he’d be willing to spend a high pick on someone he considered an upgrade. That brings us back to the rumors swirling around Dwayne Haskins’ possible fall in the draft. As good of a prospect as he appears to be, he only has one starting season under his belt and he is competing with a 3 ½ year starter in Drew Lock of Missouri to be the 2nd QB picked in 2019. To make matters worse for Haskins, he might not even be 3rd because of the sudden hype lifting Duke QB Daniel Jones into the 1st round conversation as well.ESPN’s Todd McShay touched on this topic on the morning show ‘Get Up’ the other day when he spoke about the possibility of other QB’s leap frogging Haskins due to his lack of experience. Though he does say that he ultimately sees Haskins going in the top 10, he sees the best fit with the Giants who could easily pass on taking a QB at 6 because they have another pick coming at 17th overall.“If any of these quarterbacks are going to fall a little bit, it might be Haskins https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-brown-jersey ,” Todd McShay said on ESPN’s ‘Get Up!’ “It will be interesting to see. I keep hearing the Giants may not be in love with Haskins. I put him there because it’s kind of the only place in the top 10 I felt good about putting him. I do think, ultimately, he’ll wind up going somewhere in that range. But it may be a team moving up. The Giants could just pass on him and wind up taking Drew Lock a little bit later with that 17th pick.”That isn’t the only NFL insider that believes that the 10-17 range is entirely possible for the Ohio State QB either, Adam Schefter also said he ultimately believes that will be the range that Haskins will be picked in as well. He spoke on the issue on Sirius XM radio, and he also said that some teams don’t even have a 1st round grade on Haskins going into this draft. This chatter hasn’t escaped the attention of Haskins, though he says he couldn’t care less about it. That’s actually a great attitude to take about the situation because if you can’t control it then why worry about it.“I couldn’t care less,” Haskins said on ESPN’s First Take. “I did well at the Combine, did well at meetings at the Combine. I threw the ball well at Pro Day and I did well at my visits and my meetings. I did what I had to do as far as this process. It’s just been a long time. I’m ready to go play football again. Draft is next week, so we’ll see what happens.” with Trent Dilfer stating that he believes he is Tom Brady-ish in his intelligence and Bar Stool Sports put out this bold tweet on Haskins’ behalf. That brings us back to the Raiders who very well could decide to take a chance on Dwayne Haskins if the price was right for them. He is a tall QB with a quick release that could translate very well into Jon Gruden’s quick strike offense. Though Haskins wasn’t pressured often in Urban Meyer’s Ohio State offense, he did have phenomenal stats in his one year starting with him completing over 70% of his passes and throwing 50 touchdowns. If the Giants do pass on him for a different signal caller in this draft then the Raiders might be a great fit for him to sit for a season and learn from a QB guru coach in Gruden. It also could help motivate Derek Carr into a better season with him knowing without a doubt in that circumstance that he needs to step up or he would be being shipped out. What do you think Raider Nation? At what point do you think it’d be worth it to consider Dwayne Haskins in this draft or is it just too high of a pick to use on a player that likely wouldn’t contribute in his rookie season? There is a lot to like about Haskins, but is he worth a high pick in this draft for the Raiders?
While there’s been word of interest from the Jets Womens Noah Fant Jersey , it does not look like Peyton Manning will be the team’s next General Manager.Thoughts that he might entertain the prospect were tied in part to his relationship with Jets head coach Adam Gase after the two men worked together with the Broncos. While that relationship might not have led to Manning joining the organization, Gase has been able to make use of it in other ways.Gase told Albert Breer of SI.com that Sam Darnold has been asking a lot of questions about Manning as he prepares to play quarterback in Gase’s offense for the first time.“He watches a lot of the old stuff — he’s watched a lot of Peyton’s stuff,” Gase said. “He’s watched almost all of our cut-ups. The good thing is we’ve got a pretty healthy library of examples … He’s watched so much of it he can bring up certain plays from different seasons to where he’ll ask a question — ‘Hey, what made him do this? Or why did he think this way?’ He’s really gone through a lot of this stuff already.”Gase said Darnold and Manning haven’t spoken directly, but he hopes that a conversation where Darnold can pose his questions directly can take place “eventually.” You know the season is lost when you lose to the hapless New York Jets. That is what happened to the Denver Broncos on Sunday in a 34-16 defeat, and if the Jets are bad, what does that make Denver? The Broncos (2-3) might be worse than they were a season ago Womens John Elway Jersey , and they were bad in 2017. Winners The Jets Unlike the Broncos, New York moved up in the NFL Draft and got its franchise quarterback in Sam Darnold. It’s fitting the Jets just beat Denver. The future looks bright for Gang Green. The same cannot be said about Broncos Country.Phillip Lindsay The Broncos rookie running back was pretty much the only player who shined on offense. He is fun to watch and will play a big role for this franchise in the foreseeable future.Adam Gotsis Hey, you have to try and find the positives at this point, and at least Denver’s defense created a turnover. Not only that, the offense turned that into a touchdown. At least the start was good. Too bad it derailed shortly after that.Losers Vance Joseph The time has come to fire him and move on. It’s easy to lose track of the number of embarrassing games he’s overseen as head coach, but Sunday against the Jets is the most recent. No more. Joe WoodsNo more. As is the case for Joseph, the time has come to move on. At least Wade Phillips will be in the building next Sunday to completely destroy the franchise that did him wrong.Garett Bolles Or is it Garett Holds? Either way Bradley Chubb Broncos Jersey , he leads the NFL in holding penalties and the issues that plagued him in his rookie season haven’t been fixed.Denver’s offensive line Despite the success this unit has had in run blocking, it is putrid in pass protection. This unit has been bad over the Broncos’ three-game losing streak and now the Los Angeles Rams are up next. Case Keenum Keenum is a liability at this point, and it’s time to consider making the switch to Chad Kelly. Keenum has proven his success with the Minnesota Vikings last season was a fluke. Bradley Roby Holy shit, was he torched on Sunday. What else is there to say? He wasn’t alone, since the Frequent Flyer Zone was open for business against the Jets. Broncos run defenseHoly shit, was this unit torched on Sunday. What else is there to say? John Elway It’s been said that Denver’s legend has no Plan B. Never has that been more true since Peyton Manning retired. It’s clear at this point that Elway has no clue what he’s doing. And his franchise just shamed itself by being annihilated by a bad team that has a franchise quarterback. Whoops.
Voluntary offseason workouts...Game of Thrones season opener...they’re kind of related...sort of..."Just so we lead off with actual Redskins news and notes https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , it is true that voluntary offseason workouts begin TODAY. I will try and work this into the article somehow. As usual, SPOILERS are always lurking in my Monday column, even though most “Game of Thrones” viewers have already watched the season eight premiere multiple times (not to mention nothing happened). Fair warning given! If you don’t watch “Game of Thrones,” I apologize for a Sixpack that might not be as much for everyone as I try and make them, but I am a big dumb animal, and right now I am all in on what I (and many of you) think is the greatest TV show of all time. Dear Kevin and T, I stayed away from the “Game of Thrones” theme for two long years. Hopefully, that bought me a little leeway, because it is officially shaping most of my thoughts right now. The good news is that I think my brain works at optimal levels when the backdrop is a great movie or TV show. The bad news is that “optimal levels” vary from brain to brain. It was a toss-up for me to compare the Redskins arriving to Redskins Park today to either when the Cleveland Indians reported to camp in “Major League” or the table-setting episode of GoT last night. I guess my Willie “Mays” Hayes stuff will have to wait.As it has been two years since we last saw the GoT gang getting after it, the season premiere was mostly reunion stuff, which yes, is likely exactly what is going on at Redskins Park today. We have players working together for the first time, meeting for the first time and feeling each other out for the first time. With everyone’s arrival at Redskins Park, guys are looking around and wondering what kind of team they might have, and how it will all work out. We would be kidding ourselves if we thought that a bunch of dudes just show up in September and start pulling the same way right away. A LOT of players are looking over at Case Keenum and asking themselves (hopefully silently) whether or not this guy is good enough to get the job done. Those same guys—and everyone else—are probably looking around and asking who Case Keenum/Colt McCoy are going to throw to this year. The season is getting closer every day, and after the draft at the end of April, we’ll be left with four months to dust off a team from the heap of players coming through the facility. I’ll ask you which “reunion” do you think is the most joyous at Redskins Park, after the most obvious: Alabama alum Landon Collins is back together with his Crimson Tide boys. I was trying to think of a character that he reminds me most of today—in keeping with the season premiere—and I came up with Samwell Tarly. I understand that the average person does not look at Sam and think “badass warrior,” but think harder than the the average person, y’all. Sam Tarly has actually killed a White Walker. He cured Jorah from greyscale. He found the dragonglass mines. Despite pretty much arriving to the Wall as little more than dead meat Montez Sweat Jersey , the guy scored a girlfriend AND a Valyrian steel sword—oh, and he ALSO killed a Thenn (which, if you don’t watch a show, would be like Danny Wuerffel carving up the best pass defense in the league). Landon Collins is a heady safety that his teammates look up to and his arrival to Redskins Park signals a major step forward for the Washington defense. Collins would be lucky to make the kind of impact in Washington that Sam has made in Westeros. It ain’t all roses and Thenns, y’all. We have treated the Reuben Foster topic very delicately this offseason, and we will continue to do so. I am sure that there are folks at Redskins Park who are still tasked with being VERY mindful of Foster’s past, but everyone has relaxed at least a tiny bit. The NFL has put him back on the active participant list, which means he will almost certainly be starting for the Redskins on opening day (though he will be playing for free the first two weeks). He has some strong supporters in the locker room, as he also is reuniting with his Crimson Tide brethren. A player with his level of talent and fire has certainly made a name for himself on the field, and his actions off the field have contributed to the way in which pretty much everyone views him. I don’t think we have to build any kind of sympathetic case for this guy. To the extent he plays well and stays out of trouble, his contributions can be appreciated, but it’s going to take a lot to make everyone forget some of his antics over the years. Isn’t The Hound the most apt comparison here? Fighting for the good guys has made this character slightly more sympathetic, but his rough edges seem impervious to polishing. I don’t know...maybe instead of finding a better character that Reuben Foster resembles, hit up the comments section with possible alternate players that The Hound resembles. For my money, Arya Stark is pound-for-pound the biggest badass on the show. She has been through the absolute grinder and has emerged as...whatever she is now. She can match the best fighters in the world in close combat, and her faceless abilities have allowed her to literally take down entire houses/armies. I routinely geek out when random characters that meet her come to realize just what she is capable of and how badass she truly is. It’s that realization that got me on the path to coming up with a Redskin that I could compare to Arya Stark. I don’t think it’s close...it has to be Trent Williams. The biggest, baddest Redskin of them all is the Arya Stark of this team. I love the juxtapostion of the little girl that everyone thinks of when you say the name “Arya,” and the giant of a man who is pound-for-pound the best player on the Washington roster. When it comes to Trent Williams, those who know, know. People sleep on how good he is because the Redskins have been forgettable for so long Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey , but every once in a while we are treated to the honest reaction of someone who sees him do something that makes the world know what kind of athlete and football player he is. As I watch the forces amass at Winterfell for a final battle, I feel a lot better about the good guy’s chances with Arya on their side. Who among us Redskins doesn’t feel the same way about Trent Williams?I usually put a value play in the #5 spot, and you could argue I have done that today with the Arya/Trent pairing. I will keep to my habit of posting the previous week’s show in this spot, and asking that folks join us tomorrow night in the basement as we continue today’s discussion. Last week, we mock drafted for the Redskins, walking through the first 14 picks as they were made by the managing editors of the other team sites. Tomorrow night, we will spend at least some time (however much time Kevin and T can stomach) going further down the road of comparing this point of the Redskins offseason with where things stand with the characters in “Game of Thrones.” Here are some questions to get the decision started:Which character on “Game of Thrones” would make the best general manager for the Washington Redskins?Compare an under-the-radar character on GoT with a depth player on the Washington roster. Which player on the Redskins would make the best character on “Game of Thrones,” and who would they fight for and what would be their claim to fame in Westeros? Safety and here’s a summary of the terms of the deal that Collins will receive.1. PITTSBURGH (AP) — T.J. Watt is not trying to match his older brother sack for sack. Honest. It’s just sort of happening that way for the second-year Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , whose six quarterback takedowns through the first five weeks of the season have him tied with Cincinnati defensive end Carlos Dunlap and Houston Texans star J.J. Watt — the oldest of the three Watt brothers in the NFL — for the league lead.“I can’t get caught up in any of the statistical things,” T.J. Watt said. “I’m sure my mom thinks it’s a lot cooler than I do.”Connie Watt’s not the only one. Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler is pretty impressed too, particularly with the way the 24-year-old Watt has assimilated so quickly. Then again, Butler knows Watt’s unique family dynamic played a role in his rapid adjustment to life in the NFL.“I think he’s kind of grown up in that atmosphere,” Butler said. “He had a good idea what it took to be successful in the NFL before we got him.”Watt racked up seven sacks as a rookie in 2017 and appears ready to take a leap forward in 2018. He opened his second season by getting three sacks in Cleveland and added three more in last week’s 41-17 dismantling of Atlanta , including a strip-sack of Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan that teammate L.J. Fort fell on in the end zone for a touchdown.“We just wanted to show who we really were,” Watt said. “We weren’t proud of the performances we put out in the first few showings of the season, and we just wanted to go out there and show what we’ve been working on for the past few weeks. We just want to show the consistency now.”That has been something unattainable for the Steelers (2-2-1) through a wildly uneven opening month. The two-time defending AFC North champions find themselves in an unusual spot heading into Sunday’s visit to Cincinnati (4-1), particularly on defense. Pittsburgh is 29th in yards allowed but also tops the NFL with 19 sacks, on pace to surpass the club record of 56 set a year ago.Coach Mike Tomlin downplayed the idea the Steelers are blitzing more this season to overcome shaky play by a revamped secondary. Maybe, but Butler is certainly not shy about sending players from all over.EightSteelers already have at least one sack. Fort picked up just the third of his six-year career against the Falcons and free-agent signee Jon Bostic’s 2 1-2 are a career high. Butler isn’t trying to read too much into his team’s success creating pressure Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , perhaps because it has been so spotty. The week before Pittsburgh’s pass rush harassed and harangued Ryan, it only brought down Baltimore’s Joe Flacco twice in 44 attempts as the Ravens pulled away in the second half.“Sometimes you’re lucky, sometimes you’re not,” Butler said. “Sometimes you’re good. Sometimes you’re bad.”Butler called the key to blitzing successfully a mixture of timing and disguise. Having the right people in the right places certainly helps. Pittsburgh overwhelmed the Falcons on the same day veteran cornerback Joe Haden shut down Atlanta star wide receiver Julio Jones. The Steelers also had nickelback Mike Hilton in the mix after he sat out the Baltimore loss with a right elbow injury. The 5-foot-9, 184-pound Hilton has carved out a niche as an unlikely enforcer off the edge thanks in part to impeccable timing. Hilton has a preternatural ability to guess the snap count — he proudly points out he’s jumped offside just once in his career — and his quickness and aggressiveness give Butler another option.“I try to set the tone any way I can,” said Hilton, who had two quarterback hits against Atlanta. “I wouldn’t say guys look up to me, but they see how I play and they’re like, ‘He’s the smallest guy on the field and he’s playing physical and being aggressive.’ It just gives everybody the same energy.”The key for Pittsburgh is finding a way to sustain it. Watt’s play — massively successful one week, decidedly quiet the next — is symbolic of a unit still rounding into form. He isn’t worried about trying to keep pace with his big brother as much as he is trying to make sure he’s hardly the only one getting to the quarterback.“I don’t think anyone in this scheme is meant to eat up blocks,” Watt said. “We all have great opportunities. It’s awesome when those guys push the pocket. It allows the quarterback to step back and allows us to get a little wider rushes Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , and also get the quarterback in our hands.”And then — Watt and the Steelers hope — on the ground.NOTES: S Morgan Burnett (groin), LB Fort (ankle) and WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (ankle) did not practice and are unlikely to play against the Bengals. … S Terrell Edmunds (ankle) and LB Vince Williams (hamstring) were full participants for a second straight day. While it would be hard to call it much of a contest, the 2019 Pro Bowl will mark the last time fans will get to see anyone wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers helmet play football this season. Well represented on the AFC roster with six players, only the Chicago Bears (7) will have more players taking part in the game. With four of these selection set to feature on offense, the matchup should have something of a Pittsburgh feel to it at times with running back James Conner, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and offensive linemen Alejandro Villanueva and Maurkice Pouncey all likely to be on the field at the same time, with Smith-Schuster the only one not named as a starter. The defense will be represented by defensive end Cam Heyward and linebacker T.J. Watt and while neither was named as a starter, but both should get a chance to lineup alongside each other at some point in the game. With J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans unsurprisingly named as a starter, T.J. should also get a rare opportunity to take the field with his older brother. If not for injuries that prevented them from making the trip, rown and offensive lineman David DeCastro in this game, but both officially withdrew soon after the regular season had ended. It took longer than expected Bo Jackson Jersey , but Jared Cook now officially is a member of the Saints. The team introduced the tight end Wednesday.“I knew that was going to work itself out, I didn’t ask any questions on why it was taking so long,” Cook said, via Luke Johnson of the .Saints quarterback Drew Brees texted Cook to welcome him to the team, something Cook called “pretty awesome.”“I’ve always been a fan,” Cook said. “I’ve watched him expose defenses across the league, and he was on point last year in all categories. I’m excited to be working with him, learn from him and grow with him.”Cook, who turns 32 next month, had a career year in 2018 during his second season in Oakland. He made 68 catches for 896 yards and six touchdowns. His numbers could go up playing with Brees.“I have a chance to come in right now and make an impact https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-brown-jersey ,” Cook said. “I have an opportunity to come in and be a huge part of a prolific and high-powered offense and that interested me.” There was a moment when Jared Cook might have still been available to the Patriots. That moment seems to have passed.According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Saints’ contract with the free agent tight end will be signed today.Via Jeff Duncan of the , “My understanding is he’s signed (with the Saints). We’re excited to have him.”It’s a two-year deal worth $15.5 million, with $8 million of it guaranteed this year. That’s a solid payday for the nearly-32-year-old Cook, and a big get for the Saints offense. The Patriots were interested in him previously, and after the somewhat surprising retirement of Rob Gronkowski, the door was open for them to make another run. They made similar overtures to wide receiver Adam Humphries after it was reported he had agreed to a deal with the Titans. But Cook will be a Saint, and he can continue to gush about the idea of catching passes from Drew Brees, after his career season with the Raiders.

Thank you, John ElwayWhen I was a kid, maybe 10 years old, I had only one wish for my birthday - I just wanted a bike. My brother had a bike, and I just wanted to be able to explore the world and be the next Evil Knievel while doing crazy things alongside my older brother. Since I was a shy kid (hard to imagine I know) I didn’t ever get the courage to tell my parents that was what I wished for. I just waited and hoped and prayed that I would get my two-wheeled steed. My birthday came, and I didn’t think I would get my gift. I wanted it; I still hoped for it, but I thought I would get G.I Joes like I had the last few years (which I also loved, BTW). My hopes and expectations and what my parents would actually do were not likely to collide and bring me the joy that only a ten-year-old can feel. Party time came and since I didn’t see a bike in the living room I sat dejected with my head down and nearly in tears at the fact that I only had little gifts to unwrap and no bike. Of course, my wonderful parents then brought me outside to show me my new https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-von-miller-jersey , gorgeous means of transportation. I was beyond words. I don’t think I even said thank you, I just jumped on the thing and rode off into the sunset, as happy as a person can be in this life. During this last weekend I felt like I was 10 again.I hoped and wished for Elway to have learned from his first few drafts where he picked highly talented guys with questionable character because they “fell in the draft.” I dreamed about a team that was built both around superior talent but also around leadership skills and a high locker room morality. I prayed that No. 7 would pick guys who love the game, who play football the right way and most importantly that they be people who want to go to work as Broncos. As the first round rolled on (2 a.m. in Germany) and the Broncos traded their #10 pick for some extra picks later in the draft, my head dropped like ten-year-old Kevin and my dream for the big gift was squashed, since apparently I would only receive a few more smaller gifts instead of the big one that I had hoped for. Then, they drafted Noah Fant at No. 20.Fant is a guy that we have talked about before and is a perfect fit with this team both right now and in the future. In the Scangarello offense and with Joe Flacco at QB, I truly believe that this Iowa alum could be a top-five tight end as a rookie. Maybe Fant himself wasn’t the full bike, but he was one of the wheels.I went to bed Friday night (sorry, couldn’t do two straight all-nighters) with real hope blooming in my heart after they had gotten a great player at No. 20 and had added pieces to bring in more impactful talent. Now, the questions was, what would they do with those extra picks? Would they be able to use them well enough to make the trade back worth it? When I woke up https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-phillip-lindsay-jersey , the questions were answered and I wasn’t disappointed.Elway had managed to draft a local beast of an offensive lineman who was often mocked to go in the first round. Dalton Risner is a tough, very high-character guy who claims that he would rather have been picked by the Broncos at #41 than any other team in the first round. That’s awesome. My bike had it’s second wheel. I started to feel giddy like a school boy and then I saw what they had done with the very next pick in the second round.Drew Lock, the QB that was very often predicted to go at No. 10 to the Broncos, had fallen and Elway wasn’t going to let go of a guy who he valued highly as a gunslinger - just not as a first round talent - so he picked him with the 42nd pick in the draft. He landed his guy who could become a franchise player at a position in the draft that brings zero pressure to Lock or the Broncos. If he pans out, great. If not, not big deal. They hadn’t given up too much and they had landed a highly touted passer that has all the skills but needs to learn the more intricate parts of playing the toughest position in sports. Great pick. Super value, no pressure and monstrous potential. The bike was whole. Shining in all it’s glory. The rest of the draft was just extra finery to add on to what the Germans call a “Fahrrad.” My joy was complete. All of my wishes had been granted. The Broncos had drafted high-character players that are the BPA and fill a position of need. They picked players that will immediately impact the team but also have the potential to be the building blocks of a decade long run of greatness. Though I forgot to thank my parents, I can thank John Elway. I want to thank him for bringing in players that we can be proud of putting on the orange and blue. Ambassadors to the sport and to our city of Denver. I want to thank him for adding great talent and apparently spreading rumors like a cool headed boss that made other teams make mistakes (ala NYG) that eventually helped our team. Most importantly I want to thank him for giving this team a direction and a character that we can get behind and feel excited about. The 2019 Denver Broncos draft picks WANT to play for the Denver Broncos and I for one am overjoyed that they are part of our team and can’t wait to see them on the field this September and for many years to come! Also, for my next birthday, I would love a bike. (Thanks, mom and dad!) After Broncos linebacker Von Miller hosted his pass rush summit earlier this year, he downplayed the notion of a backlash against players from different teams sharing tips that could then be used against them at some point in the future.Saints left tackle Terron Armstead attended an offensive line summit put together by Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson last weekend along with around 50 other pro and college linemen. The group took part in sessions that saw blockers break down pass rushers like Miller Phillip Lindsay Jersey White , DeMarcus Lawrence and Armstead’s own teammate Cam Jordan.Armstead could recount what other linemen said about Jordan, but he said he didn’t think he would be able to tell Jordan much he doesn’t already know about his game. That said, Armstead does believe that there’s something to gain from talking shop with others who play the same position.“I feel like Cam’s the best D-lineman in the NFL,” Armstead said, via Jori Epstein of . “There’s nothing I could tell him that he isn’t watching on his own that is going to be a change to him. If it’s something that could be beneficial in your game — regardless if you’re playing this team, you still got 15 other games it could be an added asset.”helped run the summit and said he thought concerns about giving up a competitive advantage “might be the reason some guys don’t show up,” but that those who did should get some things that help them with film study as the year unfolds. If that leads to better results, this probably won’t be the last offseason offensive line gathering.
DaMarkus Lodge Dwayne Haskins Jersey , WRSchool: Ole Miss | Conference: SECCollege Experience: Senior | Age: 21Height / Weight: 6-2 / 199 lbsProjected Draft Status: 3rd or 4th RoundNFL Comparison: Tyler BoydCollege Statistics (There were two separate records on SRCFB for some reason)Player OverviewDaMarkus Lodge was a 4-star recruit who initially committed to Texas A&M before he pulled his commitment and gave it to Ole Miss instead. When talking about Ole Miss WR’s Lodge typically doesn’t get the same love that his teammates D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown do. But Lodge should definitely be mentioned more. In my opinion he is better than his teammate Brown and I would rank these 3 future NFL wideouts as follows: Metcalf, Lodge, Brown. His coach Matt Luke says he is the best route runner on the team. Luke also praised Lodge’s growth in maturity, sportsmanship, and support for his teammates. You can see how unselfish Lodge is when the ball doesn’t come to him. He still runs his routes with 100% effort and is probably one of the best blocking receivers in this draft class. Lodge is underrated now but he won’t be for much longer. He should be a solid option for a team looking for a starting quality receiver who has refined fundamentals and who is both a threat on the boundary and as a deep option. StrengthsGood size and athleticism for the position with a focus on deep speed.Good route runner who pays attention to the details. Focuses on his craft at the LOS when getting off and setting up the defender.Excellent body control with solid understanding of NFL two feet down rule. Excellent at tracking the ball in the air.Uses his long arms to high point the ball. Is able to make contested catches in tight coverage. Strong hands.Unselfish player. Will literally lay opponents out to make space for his teammates on the run.WeaknessesHas long speed but slow acceleration. It takes a few paces for him to get up to top speed doesn’t create much separation those first 10-20 yards. Doesn’t always maintain focus throughout the process suffered from some concentration drops. Lacks short area elusiveness. Doesn’t have a lot of moves to avoid defenders after he gets off the LOS.Let’s see his work:How He Would Fit On The RedskinsIn a lot of ways I think Lodge could be what the Redskins were hoping Robert Davis and to a degree Josh Doctson would develop into. A receiver with size and length with good fundamentals that also has the athleticism to stretch the field. Because of injury, lack of development, poor QB play, and poor offense in general most recently both current Redskins have not worked out he way the staff and the fandom had hoped they would. Lodge could represent the start of a rebuild for a unit that badly needs improvement in just about all areas. Lodge has his faults few of which he can change but he has the polish and fundamentals to succeed in the NFL. What is most impressive about him to me is his ability to get off the LOS quickly as well as his body control and ability to snatch the ball out of the air. These may seem like no brainer skills for a WR but they have been missed on offense for this team. There are faster, quicker, shifter WRs in this draft but Lodge is definitely a safer pick than his counterparts that will go a round or two earlier in my opinion. Additionally he has a great work ethic and attitude and can skill have an impact on the field even if the ball isn’t coming his way though his route running and his blocking ability. The call on the field — is for consistency and simplification at different levels of football. The NFL held a “Universal Rules Alignment Meeting” at its headquarters in New York on Tuesday, with league football operations chief Troy Vincent and Atlanta Falcons CEO Rich McKay, the head of the league’s competition committee, leading the discussion. Some team executives, the NFL players union, the head of officiating and some officials from the NCAA took part in the effort.“It’s the idea that you try to have unified safety terminology for players so they understand what the foul is and what it isn’t and then teach it all the way down beginning at the little kids, getting to high school, getting to college and getting to pros,” McKay said. One focus was rules that deal with players’ safety, such as defenders leading with the helmet or targeting defenseless players.“Hopefully we’ll come together with language that’s simpler and easier for the players to understand Wes Martin Jersey ,” McKay said. “I think the use of the helmet foul, to lower your head to initiate contact, I think that foul will have an impact on the way players play the game.”They also looked at rules differences with cut blocks and chop blocks and kickoffs between college and the pros. The discussions will continue early next year after the end of the college and NFL seasons.“I think everything can be navigated if people are willing to come and sit and talk and communicate,” Vincent said. “It’s not a one-size-fits-all. … We learn from you, there’s some things that you’re doing, there’s some things that we’re doing. It’s really collaboration. Can it work? Absolutely.”THE OPTICS DEBATEJimmy Johnson, a two-time Super Bowl winner as coach of the Dallas Cowboys, criticized Jason Garrett for turning up at Game 3 of the World Series last Friday with his 3-4 team going into its open weekend.Johnson, a Fox studio analyst, said before last Sunday’s games that it was a bad look for a team that had work to do, based on its record.Garrett, one of the backups to quarterback Troy Aikman for Johnson’s final season in 1993 when the Cowboys won their second straight title, passed on the chance to fire back at his old boss.“I have the utmost respect for coach Johnson,” Garrett said Thursday. “He’s been a friend and mentor to me, really through the years. That’s really all I want to say on that. I just hold him in the highest regard.”But Garrett did defend himself by pointing out that he encourages all his players to get away from the job for a few days.“If you’re a beach guy, go to the beach. If you’re a mountain guy, go to the mountains,” Garrett said. “Do whatever you want to do to get away from it, to get yourself refreshed Womens Bryce Love Jersey , recharged and ready to go again.”Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he didn’t have a problem with Garrett’s World Series excursion as it related to a team that expected to contend for the playoffs having a losing record, and a winless road mark (0-4).“I’m not associated with anybody that works any harder than Jason Garrett,” Jones said. “I know where Jason Garrett’s mind is and I know where his work ethic is.”PACKERS PARTY TIMEGive it up for left tackle David Bakhtiari, who had the best costume at the Green Bay Packers‘ Halloween party on Monday.Well, that’s at least according to quarterback Aaron Rodgers.Bakhtiari and his girlfriend went as the characters Vincent and Mia from the movie “Pulp Fiction.” Rodgers said the couple “basically danced as they danced in the movie to any song that was on. Hardcore rap at times. I gave Dave a lot of credit for that. It was phenomenal.”The party came a day after the Packers’ 29-27 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Players were disappointed, but “nobody was hanging their head,” said Rodgers, pointing to the well-attended party as a sign of the health of the locker room.“But no, it’s a tight-knit group,” he said. “You’ve got to stick together through losses, through decisions that are made that are out of our control and keep moving forward with the same vision.”LEADING THE WAYPro Football Hall of Famers Will Shields and Aeneas Williams, three-time Pro Bowler Mark Brunell and three-time Super Bowl champion Willie McGinest will serve as the East-West Shrine Game legends captains. The four legends captains, who all played in the East-West Shrine Game, will serve as mentors for players throughout the week and be present on the sidelines during the game. The 94th annual East-West Shrine Game, which features some of college football’s best prospects, will kick off at 3 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 19, from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.GUARANTEE & GOLD MEDALSPro Football Hall of Famer Joe Namath and the U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , which won gold at the Winter Games in South Korea last February, will be honored with the Sports Legend and Sportswomen of the Year Awards, presented by the March of Dimes Greater New York Market. They will receive the awards at a luncheon on Nov. 27 at the New York Hilton in Manhattan.MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred will also receive the Sports Leadership Award, and Stephen Espinoza, President of Sports and Event Programming for Showtime Networks, Inc., will get the Corporate Leadership Award. This marks the 35th year for the luncheon by March of Dimes, which honors achievements of men and women in the sports industry.RENEWED RIVALRYAtlanta’s Julio Jones faced Josh Norman plenty when Norman played at Carolina. their first matchup with Norman playing for the Redskins. And, Jones doesn’t expect much trash talk from one of the league’s more loquacious defenders.“Josh really doesn’t talk much when we’re out there,” Jones said. “It’s just business. We’re used to going out there and working against each and just trying to play the game the right way.”Jones went so far as to call Norman a “great guy.”“I don’t have anything bad to say about him,” Jones said. “He plays the game like it’s supposed to be played. He’s trying to create turnovers for his team. He puts himself in different situations. He throws his body around and has no regard for his body just to get the ball out.”KICKING TO THE HALLAdam Vinatieri has kicked his way all the way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Well, at least part of him, for now.The Indianapolis Colts kicker’s jersey and cleats — worn last Sunday when he set the NFL’s career scoring record — along with the football he booted for the mark will be displayed at the hall’s museum in Canton, Ohio.Vinatieri finished the day with 2,550 career points, surpassing the previous record of 2,544 held by Hall of Famer Morten Andersen.
For the second straight year https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-juju-smith-schuster-jersey , the Steelers have gotten no compensatory draft picks. That should change in 2020.The Steelers will lose running back Le'Veon Bell to free agency. As long as they end up with net losses in unrestricted free agency, Bell’s departure could give Pittsburgh as much as a third-round compensatory pick. The Steelers could have gotten a compensatory pick for Bell in 2019, if they had rescinded the franchise tender from Bell during the 2018 season. However, because they had signed a pair of UFAs (linebacker Jon Bostic and safety Morgan Burnett) and lost only one (tackle Chris Hubbard), they would have had to cut Bostic or Burnett by Week 10 to have net losses in unrestricted free agency. Some teams have mastered the compensatory draft process, with the Ravens racking up 50 over the years by: (1) fully understanding the formula; and (2) planning all moves with an eye toward maximizing their extra draft picks. Those extra picks essentially become free tickets to the Great Player Lottery. The Steelers get no extra tickets this year. But with a great player walking away in free agency soon, they can do that next year — as long as they don’t get too aggressive in buying up other team’s unrestricted free agents. With, however Womens James Conner Jersey , plenty of pending UFAs (they recently re-signed defensive end Tyson Alualu), the losses should outweigh the gains. Le'Veon Bell made a big bet last year. The ante? $14.54 million, minus federal taxes, state taxes, and agent fees. The payoff? Still to be determined. The good news for Bell is that he’ll get a chance to finally pull the lever, watch the three wheels spin, and hope to see and hear a trio of 7s lock into place. The no-news-for-now is that no one knows what he’ll get.Soon (if not already), agent Adisa Bakari will gather general information regarding specific interested teams T. J. Watt Jersey , and he possibly will hear what those teams may be willing to pay. Key factors will include signing bonus, full guarantee at signing, injury guarantee, payout in the first three years, and annual average.Skeptics will say that he’ll never make the $14.54 million that he sacrificed in 2018. Those same skeptics may not point out that Bell would have had to risk significant injury — and the low-level 2019 contract offer that would have gone along with it — to get that money. They also may fail to point out that the Steelers, given their peculiar rules regarding player contracts, didn’t offer Bell the kind of security to which a second franchise tag should have translated on a multi-year deal, given the starting point of $14.54 million.Bell is getting that security only by hitting the market Jerome Bettis Jersey White , as a highly-talented tailback with plenty of tread still on the tires. Although it’s becoming fashionable to bash Bell’s abilities (especially in Pittsburgh), there’s no denying that he’s still one of the best running backs in the NFL. If not the very best. There’s also no denying that, on the first day of free agency, money gets spent for reasons other than football. It’s about winning press conferences, selling tickets, moving merchandising, purchasing relevance. The Jets, for example James Conner Jersey White , need to better compete in their division and in their own stadium. The Giants have Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley. The Jets have Sam Darnold. before Darnold becomes eligible for a new contract, giving the cash-and-cap-rich Jets plenty of reason to spend plenty of money on capable players who will help accelerate Darnold’s development.Whether it’s the Jets or someone else (the Raiders, Packers, Ravens, etc.), someone will throw football and non-football reasons into a vat, cook up an offer, and likely blow the lid off the market. That’s what transpires when great players get to the open market Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , something that rarely happens. It will happen on March 13, when Bell should easily become the highest-paid tailback in NFL history. Once the money rolls in, the time will come to assess whether rejecting Pittsburgh’s long-term and one-year offer in 2018 was worth it.

It could be a few weeks.”Update: Whalen has been placed on injured reserve. He can remain on IR all season or the team can waive him with an injury settlement. So, what was looking like it was coming down to a battle between Switzer and Whalen to be the team’s primary slot receiver to begin the season, turns out to be neither.Turf toe can linger. It gives the Raiders a decision to make on if they like Whalen enough to wait out the injury, however long it takes, or to put him on injured reserve.Remember there is still a logjam at receiver and two other receivers — Seth Roberts and Dwayne Harris — both have experience playing the slot as well. Roberts played some in Friday’s game. In fact, he led all Raiders players in snaps. Though he was unable to record a catch.“He did some good things,” Gruden said of Roberts. “Some of the balls didn’t go his way, but he was open a few times, did a nice job blocking, did an excellent job running some routes. It’s good to see him back out there. We’ll try to get Seth a lot of work here in the next couple days. It’s good to have him back on our offense.”Roberts is a tough cut. He is a talented player, but if the Raiders let him go, they will pay him $4.25 million not to play for them. That’s a tough pill to swallow. And with the Ryan Switzer trade Womens Antonio Brown Jersey , you figure trading Roberts is a slim proposition.Harris signed this offseason after three seasons in New York with the Giants where he started 7 games on offense. Prior to that he started 3 games over four seasons in Dallas.“He caught five touchdowns a couple years ago from Eli [Manning], so he’s a capable guy coming over there in the slot. He can go outside, he showed some separation when he did play the other night.”special teams, as he showed last week against the Packers when he returned a kick 47 yards only to have it called back by a phantom holding penalty.“He’s a versatile player, we can hand him the ball, we can do a lot of things with him,” Gruden continued. “He’s tough. He was just hurt last year, that was why you didn’t hear from him. And he’s a Pro Bowl special teamer. I really think a couple years ago when the Raiders lost [Andre] Holmes, [Brynden] Trawick and [Daren] Bates, I think it really hurt their special teams, and we want to try to get a couple core guys that [Special Teams Coordinator Rich] Bisaccia can count on every week and we’ll start with Harris.”Harris and Bisaccia are very familiar with each other from their time together in Dallas. He has looked like a strong bet to make the roster for some time now for his special teams abilities. If they like him enough in the slot as well, it could earn him some time there.Follow @LeviDamien
Quarterback play was ugly at the Hall of Fame Game Womens Phillip Lindsay Jersey , and that included Drew Lock, the Broncos’ second-round rookie. Broncos coach Vic Fangio said after the game that he had hoped to see a better outing from Lock in his first preseason game.“I was hoping for more, but [I’m] not surprised,” Fangio said. “He’s still got a lot of work to do. I thought his accuracy wasn’t clean all the time along with his reads, but that’s to be expected. We’ve got four more games and we’ve got to get him ready — more ready than he is right now.”Lock completed 7 of 11 passes for 34 yards. He was sacked twice, losing 15 yards, and scrambled once for six yards, which means that on Lock’s 14 dropbacks the Broncos totaled just 25 yards, an ugly average of 1.8 yards per play. The best thing Lock did to gain yardage for the Broncos was pick up a highly questionable 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for a hit at the end of that six-yard run. After the game, Lock gave himself a mixed assessment.“I think it’s what you can expect from an opener,” Lock said. “A couple ups, a couple downs — but it’s good that we can look at it. There’s a lot of things we can work on John Elway Jersey White , especially myself, and go in and get ready for the next one.”Joe Flacco solidified his status as the Broncos’ starting quarterback without even playing. A potential day three wide receiver has met with the Broncos according to reports."According to NBC Sports’s Josh Norris, the Denver Broncos had a pre-draft visit with former Toledo wide receiver Diontae Johnson today.Johnson is a 5’10”, 183lb wide receiver who played his college ball at Toledo. He ran a 4.53 40-time at the NFL Scouting Combine and is compared to current Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders by NFL Network’s draft analyst, Lance Zierlein. Here is what Zierlein has to say about Johnson in his scouting report for him on NFL.com. and put up some solid numbers during that time. During his three-year career at Toledo, Johnson totaled 135 receptions for 2,235 yards, and 23 touchdowns. This past season he totaled 49 receptions for 761 yards, and 8 touchdowns. The Broncos have a young group at wide receiver that includes second-year players Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton while also having youngster Tim Patrick in the mix as well. Veteran starter Emmanuel Sanders is recovering for an Achilles injury so when he’ll be able to hit the field and his effectiveness when this does happens remains a question. He is also entering the final year of his deal, so the Broncos need some depth options in place going forward. I expect Johnson to go sometime on day three on the 2019 NFL Draft and also where I expect the Broncos to potentially select him.
